Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community had expressed its support for the champion in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
