Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will return for the new Hunger Games instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
An Important Comeback for the Franchise
The actors are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their cameos will take the form of a future-set scene, as the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.
This represents the sixth film in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's narrative are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several notable actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes will appear as a earlier incarnation of the menacing President Snow.

In other news, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving acclaim for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
