Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
